Banner Contracts invest in Trime X-60 filtration system
New water-treatment system cleans and recycles wash-down water, reduces top-up water consumption
BANNER Contracts, one of the UK’s leading contract crushing and screening specialists, have invested in the Trime-manufactured X-60 water-separation and filtration tank solution.
The X-60 water-treatment system pumps contaminated water through a collection tank and into a filtration tank which separates all the pollutants, supplying clean water, via a booster pump, to a pressure washer or steam cleaner. The X-60 has three 2,000-litre tanks totalling a 6,000-litre capacity. The tanks are made from galvanized steel and the frame from steel with a baked-on powder paint coating.
Commenting on this latest investment, Andrew Banner said: ‘Our company is committed to operating in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. This has seen us invest heavily in market-leading hybrid machinery and battery-powered vehicles. We have also installed a solar array, quick-charging points, and a ground-source heating system at our premises.
‘As a quarrying contracting, plant hire, and machinery sales company, at our premises we have a requirement to clean heavy machinery which can come back from site heavily soiled. We already had appropriate silt traps and oil-interceptor systems in place, but wanted to reduce our water consumption by recycling the waste water from the wash. Our research led us to the X-60 system and it has provided the ideal solution with minimal top-up water now being required by our wash system.’
Banner Contracts were also impressed with the X-60’s ability to successfully filter and clean the waste water that had been through their pre-existing silt traps and interceptor to a sufficient standard to allow the water to be reused by their steam cleaner for washing down plant and heavy machinery.
‘I was impressed that Trime UK’s technical director, Wayne Brennan, came out to commission the X-60 unit himself,’ continued Mr Banner. ‘This is the first unit of this size that they have sold and he wanted to gain experience with the unit and make sure everything was right with it personally. He was very helpful and informative and gave us as much of his time as we required. That level of commitment to customer service from senior management goes a long way with me.’
Based in Yorkshire and the north-east of England and operating throughout mainland UK, family-run Banner Contracts have over 35 years’ experience in the construction and quarrying industries. They employ more than 75 full-time staff, eight of whom are based at their head office, with the remainder being site-based operators, mechanics, and foremen.
