Another Volvo L220H for Collier Quarrying & Recycling
New wheel loader joins two others on front-line stocking-out duties at Goat Hill Quarry
COLLIER Quarrying & Recycling, a division of the Cowdenbeath-based Collier Group, have taken delivery of their third Volvo L220H loading shovel for front-line rehandling duties at the company’s Goat Hill Quarry, in Fife.
The new machine will work alongside two other L220H loaders that were delivered at the end of 2014, as production at the Goat Hill facility is stepped up. In particular, the three Volvo loaders are in charge of the stocking-out area where high-quality +65 PSV stone chippings are loaded on to trucks for distribution to destinations as far afield as the Midlands.
Also, since a significant financial investment has been made in establishing concrete block and concrete panel making facilities at the site, the need for another loading shovel equipped with a 5.6 cubic metre rehandling bucket was crucial for this new venture.
The L220H features a 13-litre, stage-IV final Volvo engine that develops 373hp between 1,300 and 1,400 rev/min. The machine also benefits from Volvo-designed and manufactured driveline components, including Optishift with torque converter lock-up and reverse-by-braking feature – all designed to offer considerable fuel savings on each shift.
Fuel savings are further enhanced by the Volvo Eco-pedal, which encourages the operator to run the machine at its optimum rev/min in the engine’s torque curve.
It is not just Volvo Construction Equipment products that are favoured by the Collier Group –the company also operates 18 Volvo road-going vehicles, including concrete mixers, haul and drag units, low-loaders and eight-wheel tippers.
SMT GB market Volvo Construction Equipment products, Volvo utility equipment and Volvo road equipment products in Great Britain via their eight strategically placed customer support centres, a dedicated National Used Equipment Centre and a network of utility equipment dealers.
