Another Skako grizzly for Tarmac

Skako Comessa have supplied a grizzly scalping screen to Tarmac’s Hoveringham Quarry in Nottinghamshire.

Processing as-dug sand and gravel at around 250 tonnes/h, the grizzly screen, which has a scalping area of 1,000mm x 2,200mm, has self-cleaning tapered grizzly bars with a nominal aperture of 85mm. The grizzly is being used to exclude the small percentage of oversize, which would otherwise create a problem in the tunnel recovery system and crushing station.

In order to achieve the screening efficiency required to handle the ‘often damp’ sand, the grizzly has a high elliptical action linked to a low frequency. The screen includes a 500mm long landing/impact plate, followed by four stepped and tapered grizzly scalping modular sections. The bars of each section are offset, while the 120mm high fall steps cause the material to turn over, thereby preventing the unnecessary carry over of the required product.

The centre shaft vibrator arrangement is complete with an integral automatic self-lubrication system and the total screen body is a heavy-duty, low-stress, Huck-bolted construction (to eliminate any weld stresses).

The grizzly screen was supplied as an ‘easy installation’, totally modular unit, complete with motor drive, support structure, platform, and a rubber-lined product discharge chute.
