Company receives multiple distinctions from the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association

AMRIZE, North America’s largest building solutions supplier, have been recognized with multiple distinctions by the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), the leading advocate for the US aggregates industry. The awards were presented as part of NSSGA’s annual Awards of Excellence programme during the organization’s Legislative & Policy Forum in Washington DC.

‘These awards are far more than a single-day achievement, they reflect the ongoing efforts that fuel our momentum as industry first-movers,’ said Michael LeMonds, vice-president of government affairs and sustainability at Amrize Building Materials. ‘We’re proud to be recognized by NSSGA for our teams’ success in implementing best-in-class practices that put the communities where we live and work first.’

Awards are presented in three categories: Community Relations, Environmental, and/or Safety Excellence. Amrize’s Honey Island Sand & Gravel site earned the Platinum award in Community Relations for its introduction of an on-site bee habitat, which supplies honey to local food banks while enhancing biodiversity and supporting pollinator populations. The facility previously earned the Platinum award in the Environmental Excellence category in 2018. Platinum designation – the highest NSSGA distinction – is presented to the top-scoring Gold Award recipient for that year.

Additional Amrize recipients include:

  • Pit 21 (Minnesota): Gold – Environmental Excellence

  • Morrison Quarry (Colorado): Gold – Environmental Excellence

  • Presque Isle Quarry (Michigan): Gold – Community Relations; Silver – Environmental Excellence

  • Elburn Aggregates (Illinois): Gold – Environmental Excellence

  • Lyons Quarry (Colorado): Silver – Environmental Excellence

  • Sloan Quarry (Nevada): Bronze – Environmental Excellence

  • Swampscott Quarry (Massachusetts): Bronze – Environmental Excellence

  • Lockport Quarry (New York): Bronze – Community Relations.

Facilities that achieve a Gold designation maintain recognition for five years. Two additional Amrize sites currently hold Gold status: the Bridgeton sand plant in Missouri for Safety Excellence and Marblehead Quarry in Ohio for Community Relations Excellence.

‘NSSGA proudly recognizes the Amrize facilities for their exemplary achievements,’ said Michele Stanley, interim chief executive officer of NSSGA. ‘Their leadership in environmental stewardship and community engagement sets a high standard for our industry and demonstrates the positive impact our members have nationwide.’
