Advanced jaw crusher unblock technology available in Australia
Technidrive and ASAP Power partnership aims to improve jaw crusher efficiency and safety
NORTHERN Ireland-based automation specialists Technidrive have introduced their advanced jaw crusher unblock system to the Australian market. With more than 25 years of expertise in industrial drive systems, the company has partnered with Western Australia’s ASAP Power, a specialist electrical engineering provider, to bring this cutting-edge solution to local mining and quarrying operations.
By leveraging ASAP Power’s deep industry knowledge and established presence in Western Australia, the collaboration aims to enhance efficiency and safety in jaw crushing applications by ensuring that local businesses have access to the latest technology backed by expert support and service.
Technidrive’s jaw crusher unblock system is an advanced solution designed to safely and efficiently clear material blockages in heavy-duty crushing equipment. It is well suited to industries such as mining, quarrying, and construction, where material flow disruptions are common.
The system utilizes a WEG W22 motor, known for its durability and energy efficiency, paired with a CFW11 WEG inverter with built-in soft programmable logic control (PLC). This combination allows for smooth and energy-efficient operation, even when dealing with the large inertia of jaw crushers. The innovative software controls ramp times, current, torque, speed, and direction to automatically unblock the system, all while minimizing power consumption.
It also eliminates the need for dangerous and time-consuming manual clearing of jammed crushers, combining intelligent automation with robust drive technology. In doing so, this innovative solution is designed to minimize downtime, maximize productivity, and improve operational safety.
ASAP Power specialize in the sales, service, commissioning, and repair of WEG low- and medium-voltage automation products. With a proven track record in the iron ore, lithium, gold, copper, mineral sands, nickel, aluminium, and limestone industries, ASAP Power service clients throughout Western Australia and beyond.
ASAP Power’s status as a WEG Australia partner and service agent further strengthens the collaboration, providing access to the global industrial equipment manufacturer’s high-quality electric motors, drives, and gearboxes. Technidrive say their expertise, combined with WEG’s energy-efficient products, allows for the design and implementation of highly reliable and cost-effective solutions.
‘Since we first developed this system in 2016, we’ve installed more than 80 crusher unblock systems and continue to increase crusher safety and efficiency across the globe for both end users and OEMs,’ explained David Strain, technical director at Technidrive.
‘The average time lost to a blocked jaw crusher is 240 minutes and the average lost throughput is a staggering 800 tonnes. Using our jaw crusher auto-unblock control system reduces this to five minutes and just 21 tonnes. That’s a saving of nearly four hours in downtime and 779 tonnes every time the system kicks in.’
