A show of power at Hillhead for ArcGen Hilta

SMC SL-55 lighting tower

Wide range of on-site power equipment to be showcased at Hillhead 2012

At this year’s Hillhead show ArcGen Hilta will be exhibiting a wide selection of products geared for use in the quarrying industry, comprising site generators, welder generators, power washers and pumps, including the new Hilta C150 ‘Pro-Flo’ 6in centrifugal pump. This is also the first time that ArcGen Hilta will be appearing at Hillhead since acquiring SMC Light & Power in 2010, and will also be exhibiting their market-leading range of lighting towers.

ArcGen Hilta’s commercial director, Phil Winnington, said: ‘ArcGen Hilta’s robust products are suitable for the demanding conditions encountered in the quarrying industry. We also offer bespoke solutions and specially adapted machine specifications for our quarrying and mining customers, including spark arrestors, chalwyn valves and a variety of safety features.

‘We look forward to welcoming visitors to our stand and showcasing our range of products, as well as learning more about the individual needs of end users and the specific needs of the industry as a whole.’

ArcGen Hilta will demonstrate a wide range of pumps on stand N23, including the new Hilta C150 ‘Pro-Flo’ 6in centrifugal vacuum-assisted automatic priming pump, a low-pressure/high-volume machine, developed to offer increased performance for customers.

Designed for use in any application for the moving or removal of high volumes of water, the latest ‘Pro-Flo’ boasts an improved flow and head and solids handling up to 80mm diameter for use in a variety of quarrying and mining applications. Users of the new C150 ‘Pro-Flo’ will also benefit from easy transportation, low noise levels and an adjustable front wear plant, as well as high performance from low fuel usage, offering cost savings.

Also featuring on the stand will be a range of super-silent petrol- and diesel-driven portable ArcGen welder generators. Ranging from 30amps to 500amps, with excellent welding characteristics, and AVR control to provide a voltage regulation of +/-1.5%, the compact welder generators are available on various trailer types, and are easily transported for difficult to reach projects. Simultaneous use of welding and auxiliary output, and the ability to link two machines together via parallel boxes to double the welding output, increases the versatility of the equipment whilst an auto-idle facility allows longer operating hours without the need to refuel.

The machines also possess essential safety features for quarrying and mining projects, including auto shutdown in the event of low-oil pressure/high water temperature or thermal overload, and earth leakage breaker fitted for increased site safety.

ArcGen Hilta will also be showcasing their range of hot and cold industrial power washers. Compact and robust, the power washers are fitted on wheeled site chassis' for easy manoeuvrability to where machinery is required. Ranging from 1500psi to 3000psi, the power washers are available with petrol and diesel engines, or 240V or 110V electric motors. The series also includes a road-towable 250 gallon 3000psi/200 bar bowser unit, available with or without the accompanying pressure washer and on-road tow for easy site transportation.

Lighting up stand N23 for ArcGen Hilta will be their SMC and Lumaphore temporary lighting range. Offering customers high fuel economy, ease of use and substantial cost savings, the product portfolio offers a varied selection of lighting options to suit many quarrying and mining projects. Amongst this range, ArcGen Hilta will be exhibiting the SL-55 Lumaphore, the company’s latest soft light solution. Following design approval and testing, the New Product Development team has adapted its latest soft light system, the Lumaphore, to work in conjunction with the company’s market leading SMC SL-90 lighting tower, creating the SL-55.

With a straightforward retrofit of Lumaphore soft lamps on to the SL-90, replacing the traditional metal halides, the resulting soft light system provides four 640W lamps compared to the traditional offer of three 1000W by balloon style lamps, therefore providing a serviceable lighting tower with soft light capacity. The soft light capabilities of the SL-55 make it suitable for quarrying and mining projects either underground or during hours of darkness, as it offers reduced glare for projects workers without diminished light quality.
