New Doosan DX300LC-5 for Czech quarry operator
Impressive return on investment as 30-tonne crawler excavator adds 20–30% more output at Mítov Quarry
FAST Cargo s.r.o. based in Přeštice, near Pilsen, in the Czech Republic, offer services in recycling and demolition, as well the extraction and sale of construction aggregates.
The last of these areas is an important part of the family business and takes place at the company’s Mítov Quarry, where Fast Cargo have been impressed by the return on investment from a new Doosan DX300LC-5 30-tonne crawler excavator that has been added to the machinery fleet at the site.
There are substantial demands on machinery at Mítov Quarry, where more than 150,000 tonnes of stone are extracted annually and some 900 tonnes of materials moved every day.
After the quarry’s previous excavator broke down irreparably, around five brands were shortlisted for the competitive tender to replace the old machine. The contest was won by the DX300LC-5, supplied by GARNEA, the authorized dealer for the Doosan range in the Czech Republic.
According to Fast Cargo, the 270hp Doosan DX300LC-5 with its 500 litres/h hydraulic flow has provided the higher capacity and efficiency the company was hoping for from the new 30-tonne excavator.
‘Since we bought the machine, it has worked for more than 1,400 hours without a single problem,’ said Lukáš Kindl, chief executive officer of Fast Cargo. ‘Aspects such as the service provided by GARNEA, the low fuel consumption and fast delivery were all important in the decision to purchase the Doosan machine.’
Moreover, thanks to the 1.8 cubic metre quarrying bucket on the new machine, the company has seen a 20–30% increase the hourly extraction rate compared with the excavator it replaced.
Also, the DX300LC-5 has very low fuel consumption – even in the heavy operations at Mítov Quarry, it uses only 11–12 litres/h. Drivers also report that the machine is very comfortable and quiet to operate.
Fast Cargo say good service and the dealer’s approach were essential to the successful co-operation needed to deliver the new machine, and GARNEA’s speedy response allowed them to quickly overcome the failure of the original machine.
‘It was a good decision to choose the Doosan machine. We are very satisfied and will definitely continue to work closely with GARNEA and Doosan,’ said Mr Kindl.
