Quarry Manager

Dow Group Ltd are currently seeking to recruit an experienced self-motivated individual with experience in sand and gravel operations to manage Swinlees Quarry in Dalry, North Ayrshire.

Main tasks of job:

• Responsible for Issuing Permits to work and Site Inductions
• To provide regular reports to the directors on plant maintenance costs
• Responsible for implementing continuous improvement.
• Assist with all accident and near miss reports onsite.
• Look to improve the costing of the Quarry.
• Hold toolbox talks with Quarry site operatives
• Oversee time management of plant and vehicles fuel usage.

The ideal candidate:

• Excellent management and leadership skills with the ability to develop teams to drive continual improvement.
• Have an excellent understanding of the Quarries Regulation 1999
• Completed, or be working towards, a SHE NVQ Level 6 qualification or equivalent. Have good knowledge of all aspects of sand and gravel quarry operations, extraction, and restoration.
• Sound knowledge of blasting operations, crushing & screening, and maintenance activities
• Have technical knowledge of fixed and mobile Plant.
• Excellent awareness of current Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation. To act in accordance with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and practices.
• Be comfortable driving the business at an operational level to deliver daily operational targets.
• Flexible, proactive approach to establish high standards of work performance.
• Ability to plan, organise and oversee multiple operations.
• Effective communication & problem-solving skills
