Wright on time
Wright Brothers Industrial Services have recently supplied a turnkey materials-handling plant on time and on budget.
The project included a receiving and fully automated storage and delivery facility for aggregates, cements and additives. The specification also required limiting the environmental impact which involved reducing aggregate spillage to a minimum and the elimination of dust escaping to atmosphere. This was achieved by using fully enclosed conveyors and screening equipment which were fully integrated into existing buildings. The equipment was also designed to be easily maintained, with all walkways and access platforms designed to provide a safe working environment.
The aggregate-handling equipment included a 20m3 capacity Samson receiving unit which holds 32 tonnes of material and is designed to receive material at a rate of 500 tonnes/h and discharge material at 100 tonnes/h.
Five inclined and one horizontal troughed belt conveyor were also supplied, all 600mm wide and having combined drum-to-drum lengths of 100m. All operate at approximately 0.76m/s, handling loads of up to 100 tonnes/h of aggregate. Two variable-speed horizontal-belt apron feeders were provided, one with reversing capacity for handling marine or crushed aggregates. Cement handling was provided by a screw conveyor system.
A number of handling accessories, including feeders, screens, hoppers and chutes, were supplied and incorporated into the build, together with the installation of a 2.2-tonne capacity batch mixer and specially fabricated pneumatic slide valves for material control. Two fully enclosed 300-tonne storage bunkers and a dust-extraction plant were also supplied.
