Water monitoring made easy
Ashtead Technology Rentals have added a new multi-parameter sonde to their rental fleet of water-monitor instruments. The company’s latest offering, the YSI 6920, is a 14-parameter water quality monitoring instrument capable of long-term deployment in high-fouling environments.
The compact sonde incorporates an internal datalogger capable of recording up to 150,000 data sets at user-definable intervals. It has two optical ports measuring turbidity and dissolved oxygen, a conductivity/temperature port, a pH port and one ISE port. The instrument’s optical sensors feature a corrosion-resistant titanium wiper shaft and integrated wiper that prevents the impacts of biofouling.
‘The 6920 lends itself perfectly to renting because it is a rugged, highly flexible tool suitable for a wide variety of water quality monitoring applications,’ said James Carlyle, general manager of Ashtead.
‘We test and calibrate the sondes in our workshops so that they are ready for deployment as soon as we deliver them. They are also supplied with EcoWatch software, which customers find very easy to download and analyze data with. But the biggest benefit of all is the development of the YSI instrument has meant that heavy rucksacks full of instruments and consumables are no longer necessary; a 6920 sonde fully loaded with sensors weighs less than 2kg.’
