Vydas powers up automation

Sensing and instrumentation specialists Vydas International are supplying a range of low-cost DIN Rail mount switching power supplies, designed especially for the industrial automation market. Manufactured by Carlo Gavazzi, the SPD product range — launched earlier this year — includes seven different models from 5W up to 240W.

All power supply products are short-circuit protected with high efficiency and low ripple, and can be used in most sensors, electromechanical relays, solid state relays, timers, displays, DC motors, and other types of custom electronics.

Each power supply unit comes with a front trimmer for adjustment of the output voltage. This caters for increased voltage output when power loss on lines causes low voltages. Models up to 18W are equipped with two front panel light-emitting diodes (LEDs), indicating power out and low voltage on the output. The other units have been fitted with LEDs too, as well as ‘power ready’ signals for use with other electronic devices, such as powering an alarm.  

Parallel connection and a power factor correction (PFC) function is available as standard on the 240W version and on request for the 120W. Users can choose the type of connector, terminal screws and removable connectors when purchasing the DIN Rail products. All models carry a two-year warranty and are approved to UL, cUL, TUV and CE safety standards.
