Volvo trucks on show at TIP-Ex 2015
FMX off-road and FM on-road 8x4 construction trucks to go on display in Harrogate
VOLVO Trucks will be displaying two 8x4 tippers at the annual TIP-Ex show in Harrogate from 28–30 May 2015, with both trucks on show in the outdoor display area.
The two trucks have been carefully specified to provide contrasting examples of payload and fuel-efficient solutions available to construction truck operators as part of Volvo Trucks’ Bodied Stock Programme.
By partnering with key bodybuilders, the Programme significantly reduces lead times for a range of construction and waste-management vehicles.
With its higher ground clearance and straight front axles, the 8x4 day-cab Volvo FMX, 13-litre, 420hp, X-High (N3G) conforms to the ‘off-road’ definition under European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (ECWVTA). Bodywork on the 5.1m wheelbase FMX is a Boweld ‘Taperlite’ steel tipper and a PM Onboard weighing system is also fitted.
The second 8x4 tipper which will be on the stand is an FM, 11-litre, 410hp, on-road High Chassis (N3) with a Wilcox ‘Wilcolite’ insulated tipper body. The day-cab FM, like the FMX, also has a 5.1m wheelbase. This truck will also feature all relevant CLOCS-compliant safety systems for vulnerable road users, including a special lower window in the nearside door.
Volvo Trucks offer 6x4 and 8x4 configurations with ‘B’-ride parabolic, ‘T’-ride multi-leaf or rear air suspension, as either off-road (N3G) or on-road (N3) equivalent construction trucks. N3G trucks, designated X-High, have straight front axles.
Volvo Trucks’ managing director, Arne Knaben, said: ‘As a manufacturer, Volvo have tremendous experience of working with the construction industry around the world. The values of Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Trucks are fully aligned with our customers’ needs for productive, durable, fuel-efficient machinery and trucks.’
‘Volvo’s latest construction trucks, from the FL and FE tipper and mixer, to the FMX Tridem, offer drivers a fantastic place to work and excellent payload capability for the operator,’ added John Comer, Volvo Trucks’ product manager for the UK and Ireland.
‘All Volvo construction truck customers also have access to our superb dealer network, which is currently delivering a benchmark 97% first-time MOT pass rate across our 84 Dealerpoints.’
