The POD Father
One of the many products to be launched at Hillhead 2007 was The POD Father – a new software system designed to alleviate the problems faced by many haulage companies that have to process paper delivery tickets as part of their invoicing process.
With The POD Father, drivers can view and complete jobs by capturing the exact date and time of delivery, address details, payment collection and electronic customer signature on their 3G/GPRS-enabled hand-held devices.
Such details are either manually entered or sent from existing traffic management systems to The POD Father, and are then mapped to delivery driver handhelds. Completed Proof Of Delivery notes (PODs) are available online through the main POD Father website or for download back to the system for further processing into, for example, accounts and stock- control systems.
The POD Father has been tested on a wide range of handhelds from basic PDA units, such as the Qtek 9000 and HP iPaq hw6950, to ruggedized models, including the Symbol/Motorola MC70.
