Tarmac collaborate to achieve BS11000 certification
Award confirms collaborative approach is working well and provides foundation for continuous improvement
TARMAC, who have long advocated the benefits of closer collaboration with clients and across the supply chain, have received official recognition for this approach with the awarding – by the British Standards Institution (BSI) – of the prestigious BS11000 standard to the company’s Contracting division for its collaborative business relationships.
Commenting on the achievement, Paul Fleetham, managing director of Tarmac’s Contracting business, said: ‘Collaboration has always been part of our culture and we recognize that well-executed collaboration is key to supporting our clients in achieving their goals.
‘The BS11000 framework has helped us to formalize this approach and ensure it is consistently applied with our clients and supply chain. This award confirms that our approach is working well and provides us with a good foundation for continuous improvement.’
Launched in 2010, BS11000: Collaborative Business Relationships is an international standard that sets out a best-practice framework for establishing and improving collaborative relationships.
It provides a basis for improving efficiency and performance, and leads to more transparent and effective relationships with partners, internal divisions, suppliers and customers.
Tarmac underwent a detailed assessment process against the standard’s criteria that looked at both client and internal relationships to demonstrate that collaboration is embedded in the company’s structures and approach.
Commenting on Tarmac’s assessment report, auditor Brian Goldsmith from BSI, said: ‘A huge amount of effort and expertise has been used to ensure effective collaborations with various partners, and, as a result, compliance to the standard was easy to evidence throughout the assessment.’
Tarmac say they will build on their success as they look to expand and embed learnings from this collaborative approach across wider customer and supply chain relationships.
