Tarmac benefit from Vögele paver
Tarmac National Contracting have taken delivery of a new tracked Vögele Super 1900-2 asphalt paver, which features high-compaction technology, from road construction equipment suppliers Wirtgen Ltd.
Following the success of the Super 1900, the Super 1900-2 incorporates some major improvements, including a new operating system, hardtop canopy with integrated lights, COM 3-compliant Deutz engine and enhanced insulated screed.
The paver’s operating system – ErgoPlus – is easy to use, with the control panel divided into four sections: material handling; screed; tractor unit; and diagnostic display. When the Super 1900-2 is operating at night, the display panel and handset illuminate, which is essential given the recent rise in off-peak carriageway maintenance on Britain’s highways.
The Super 1900-2 features an AB500-2 TP2 hydraulically extendable screed fitted with a Vögele high-compaction pressure bar system. Using pulse flow hydraulics, two pressure bars constantly ‘press’ the asphalt at the rear of the screed, which aids primary compaction. The amount of pressure exerted can be adjusted from 6 to 130 bar.
