Taking safety to another level

Safety specialists Fortress Interlocks have been developing safety interlock systems for more than 40 years, including eGard – a compact access-control system that can combine gate switches, trapped-key interlocks and machine control stations. Recently, the company introduced safety key lock modules to their AS-interface-compatible eGard range.

With safety key modules in an eGard configuration, workers who access hazardous areas are further protected against being locked in a working area, or a machine restarting. Turning and taking the safety key will not lock a door and restart a machine until the operator inserts the key into the eGard safety module.

This provides greater protection and a complete access control system on hazardous machinery and equipment. Fortress Interlocks’ eGard modules can be added or removed easily – arranged in almost any combination. The modules comply with international standards and are designed for Category 4 applications that are light to medium duty.
