Skako screen solves a sticky problem

Skako Comessa say they have developed a new scalping screen capable of dealing with difficult to handle materials that would cause blinding and product adherence on conventional units.

The new units have been proven on the Continent in applications ranging from the handling of moist sand and gravel containing ‘claggy’ deposits to all-in limestone material and waste-recovery duties, including slag and coal.

According to Skako, the special sculpted tapered tines are key to the effectiveness of the screens. Each individually replaceable tine is forged from silicon manganese spring steel, providing high stress resistance under dynamic loading, together with hig

Capable of processing material up to 200mm, the tines have an active length of 600mm tapering to a point, with a nominal-sized scalping aperture generally set at between 40mm and 100mm.

When utilized with twin unbalanced motors or exciter drives producing linear displacement, they are said to provide efficient, high-capacity scalping. The screens can be supplied in either open or totally enclosed designs.
