Siemens appoint first Large Drives technical partner
Trafford Park-based Technique to help grow Siemens’ Large Drives business in UK
MANCHESTER-based Technique have been appointed as the first Large Drives technical partner by Siemens UK and Ireland, with responsibility for helping Siemens to continue to grow their Large Drives business in the UK.
Technique were established 12 years ago in Trafford Park, from where they provide drive system support for a project’s entire life cycle, from design and build to integration, retro-fits, obsolescence support, and repair and maintenance programmes. Their in-house technical support capabilities were said to be a major factor in their selection as a Large Drives partner.
Technique’s managing director, Andy Love (right of photo), said: ‘We have always led the company from an engineering perspective as we evolved from the drives service industry, and like Siemens, we look for long-term relationships with our customers.
‘Having the enhanced support of Siemens’ superb engineering expertise is a great strength and we’re looking forward to continued growth in integrated drive systems engineering.’
Technique will be the first Siemens Large Drives technical partner to supply SINAMICS drives up to 560kW, and up to 800kW in linked drives, holding stock to ensure they can respond quickly to customers.
The company has significant automation expertise within the food, beverage, packaging and plastics industries, but more recently has been working in the minerals, steel, petrochemical and energy-from-waste sectors.
Mike Houghton (left of photo), managing director of Siemens UK and Ireland’s Process Industries and Drives, commented: ‘Siemens’ industry knowledge is second to none in the important drive system sector and we’re building a network of trusted Large Drives technical partners to help us provide future-proof, customized solutions, backed by global and local service support.
‘We are delighted to welcome Technique on board as the first partner of this type.’
