Portable power made easy

Today, many engineers, plant maintenance technicians, scientists and researchers use a plethora of electronic devices. A long-standing problem for some of these professionals, when they are working outdoors, is that equipment such as sensors, monitoring devices, laptops and digital cameras require large amounts of power.

Merlin Equipment’s new PowerCentre is designed to provide an ultra-portable power source for mobile equipment. The unit features a built-in 40 ampere-hour advanced lithium-ion (li-ion) battery, which is capable of providing up to 2,000 cycles to an 80% depth of discharge.

While conventional power packs often require separate chargers, PowerCentre’s charging system is built-in, meaning that users can ‘grab and go’ to a location without forgetting the all-important power cable.

PowerCentre also features a built-in battery monitor, so that during charge and discharge the monitor can display the state of the battery life. In addition, there is a built-in microprocessor control that warns users in the event of overcharge.

The unit can be recharged from any 230V AC power source, a 12V vehicle or an optional solar charger. It is encased in a ‘Peli Case’, providing good protection from knocks, abrasion, dust and water.
