Excavator driver pronounced dead after being found in deep water-filled hole at Longhoughton Quarry
AN excavator operator has died after an incident at a Northumberland quarry.
Northumbria Police Authority said the emergency services were called to Longhoughton Quarry, near Alnwick, shortly after 2.00pm on Saturday 19 November, when the plant driver was found in a deep water-filled hole.
The man was brought out and paramedics treated him at the scene. He taken to Wansbeck General Hospital by RAF Boulmer where he was pronounced dead later that afternoon.
Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating the incident.
