New products from Fortress Interlocks
Over the past few months industrial safety specialists Fortress Interlocks have launched an array of new machine access safety products including: access key and safety key modules for the AmGard range of modular safety gate switches; the ATEX-certified Stop TX explosion-proof safety gate switch; a new design of slide bar for use with the AutoStop gate switch unit; and the eGard modular system for machinery guarding applications.
AmGard combines both trapped-key and gate switch technology to control access to equipment protected by guarding with either sliding or hinged doors. More than one safety or access key can be fitted to a single guarding system in a vertical stack. A padlock adaptor is also available which prevents the insertion of a key or tongue into the head, providing a link with other lockout-tagout safety procedures. AmGard includes solenoid-controlled locks specifically for machines with run-down cycles.
Forming part of the AmGard range of products, the new Stop TX explosion-proof safety gate switch is designed to control access to machinery and process lines operating in potentially explosive environments. Available with either a handle or tongue actuator for use on both hinged and sliding doors, the device is sealed to IP67 and features a tamper-proof locking mechanism and dual-channel safety circuitry.
The new slide bar mechanism for use with the AutoStop gate switch unit is also designed for use on both hinged and sliding doors, and features padlock holes for lock-out operations and an internal release handle which acts as an emergency stop. As the bar has to be engaged with the AutoStop unit to re-energize the machine, closing the door and returning the power requires a deliberate action that can only be conducted from outside.
Unlike gate switches and machine controls, the eGard is a versatile, modular system which combines both access and control technology in one unit. It is easily mounted on extruded aluminium guarding and features a quick disconnect as standard, as well as patented module connections. Connecting the electrics simply involves attaching the quick disconnect cable. The available actuators are equally simple to connect to any sliding or hinged door.
