New mobile emergency shower
SHOWERS & Eyebaths Services Ltd have upgraded their mobile emergency shower to provide a unit capable of operating efficiently and effectively in the harshest of conditions.
The upgraded GPS12 self-contained bowser safety shower boasts all the original key features but has additional collapsible side and top panels. These panels, when erected, not only provide a rigid shield against the elements but, more importantly, ensure that the overhead spray makes contact with the user and does not get blown away from its target.
Allen Yates, managing director of Showers & Eyebaths, said: ‘By law, it is the duty of site owners and operators to take the necessary steps to eliminate or reduce on-site hazards and risks. However, this can be a very expensive operation if you have bulky safety equipment to move every time a site is completed.
‘Additionally, continual upheaval of what is meant to be a static unit can effect its operation, leading to possible failure at the exact moment it is needed. This is not an option when it comes to safety showers, which have to work every time.
‘It must also be remembered that many sites do not have access to a mains water supply. The bowser itself holds 1,200 litres of water, which will give 15min of spray before there is a need to refill.’
The standard bowser unit comes fully operational with an emergency shower, pump, built-in trailer unit for transportation and safety signs. Optional extras available for the unit include an eyewash/face wash, 240V or 110V heater for frost protection, and collapsible side and top panels.
