SEW Eurodrive to introduce new drive to UK market

SEW Eurodrive will be unveiling their new mining drive for the first time in the UK at this year’s Hillhead exhibition, 19–21 June, in Buxton, Derbyshire, on stand E20.

The new drive is available as a package to provide customers with a one-stop-shop service. It has a thermal housing so no additional cooling is required and is certified to comply with ATEX M2 underground mining environment.

Visitors to the stand will be able to see a range of drive packages commonly found in the mining and quarrying industries. These include a slewing drive with a high efficiency DRE motor, an RF97 in-line helical pre-stage gear head, and the latest P022 Planetary gear head, complete with pinion lantern and drive pinion. The package includes a motor brake with a lockable manual release, thermistors, electronic encoder and a rain canopy.

There will also be a twin calendar drive, with the company’s X-series gear units fitted with IEC flange-mounted brake motors, thermistors, an electronic encoder, forced ventilation fans and diagnostic brake monitoring units. The X-series gear units are designed for very arduous applications and are available with thermal housings for the mechanical dissipation of heat.

Various X-series units will be on show, along with the latest size 7 Movidrive inverter, with a power rating of up to 315kW, and cut-away models of the company’s market leading 7-series high-efficiency helical and bevel helical geared motors. There will also be an X-series gear unit complete with half-body flange coupling for conveyor applications.

Also on show will be a conveyor swing base drive package utilizing a thermally housed X-series gear unit complete with backstop, connected via a fluid coupling and brake to a foot-mounted high-efficiency DRE IEC motor, which in turn is mounted to a torque reactive swing base. The package will also feature a sun canopy.
