New interlocking device helps prevent silo mishaps
French safety specialists SERV Trayvou Interverrouillage have developed a new version of their RGV lockable Guillemin-type hose coupling to help prevent tanker drivers delivering their loads to the wrong silo.
More resilient and easier to use, the latest RGV hose coupling allows the safe transfer of solids and liquids via trapped-key interlocking technology. Drivers are given individually coded keys to unlock the RGV coupling and to connect the tankers’ hose to the coupling, giving the silo extra protection.
Each RGV key can be stored in a key-exchange box, including SERV’s TMEC, so that keys cannot be taken without prior agreement of the operations manager.
