New fuel-agnostic engine platform from Cummins
Next-generation heavy-duty hydrogen, biogas and advanced diesel engines on show at Conexpo
CUMMINS Inc. will show their new fuel-agnostic 15-litre engine platform with hydrogen, biogas and advanced diesel engines at next month's Conexpo show in Las Vegas.
Offering the opportunity to accelerate the decarbonization of heavy-duty off-highway applications, the new platform is aligned with Tier V emission levels and delivers a significant increase in power density with a more compact installation envelope, allowing OEMs to increase machine capability and productivity with no impact on running cost.
The fuel-agnostic architecture of the next-generation engine utilizes a common base engine with cylinder heads and fuel systems specifically tailored for hydrogen, natural gas, diesel and biofuels, including HVO.
The 15-litre hydrogen engine will be available with ratings from 400–530hp and a peak torque of 2,600Nm. For applications powered by renewable biogas, the engine will offer ratings from 400–510hp with a peak torque of 2,500Nm. The advanced diesel version will offer a broad power range from 450–650hp with 3,200Nm of peak torque available.
