New feed hopper option from Jeffrey Rader

JEFFREY Specialty Equipment Corp. and Rader Co. Inc., part of the Size Reduction Group of K-Tron International Inc, are now offering an optional hopper with their feeder units to provide a more streamlined feeding process.

The hoppers are designed to suit specific applications with appropriate gate and throat dimensions as well as suitable hopper wall angles, allowing a more predictable feed rate to be obtained. Skirt boards have also been incorporated into the hopper design.

Installation of the hopper option is straightforward. The customer simply installs a bolt flange on to which the hopper is bolted, with no additional hopper support required. Jeffrey and Rader will specify a pattern and location of the flange at a specified dimension above the feeder discharge point.

In addition, the bolt-together design of the hoppers allows for easy transport to site and offers significant advantages in installations with limited access, such as reclaim tunnels. The bolt-together design also allows for individual panel replacement, minimizing downtime and eliminating the need for welding inside the hopper.

The hoppers are constructed from chromium carbide overlay steel as standard for heavy-duty wear resistance.

Meanwhile, in furtherance of the strategy underlying the September 2007 acquisition of Rader Co. Inc. by Jeffrey Specialty Equipment Corp., the two companies have announced that they are to merge on or about 1 January 2009. The new entity will be known as Jeffrey Rader Corp.
