New F-series dumptrucks

CATERPILLAR have launched three new F-series rigid dumptrucks –– the 773F, 775F and 777F, each of which is said to offer enhanced reliability, durability, productivity and operator comfort, together with reduced owning and operating costs. All three models feature a new engine, a modular radiator, enhanced transmission, all-hydraulic brakes, a new operator station, and improved access for operators and service personnel.

The 773F and 775F, which are designed for quarry and construction applications in the 54.4-tonne and 63.5-tonne payload classes, replace the 773E and 775E, while the 777F is in the 91-tonne payload class and replaces the 777D. Dual-slope and flat-floor body systems with three different steel liner packages and two rubber liner packages are now offered on the 773F and 775F, allowing customers to configure the trucks to suit specific applications. The 777F uses a dual-slope body and now has a rubber liner available in addition to the steel liner offered previously.

All three trucks feature Cat engines with ACERT technology for responsive, fuel-efficient operation with full emissions compliance. The 773F and 775F both use the Cat C27 engine, which produces net power output of 524kW (703hp) and 552kW (740hp) respectively, while the 777F features a Cat C32 engine with a net power output of 700kW (938hp).

Valuable machine information is available to the operator or maintenance technician through the new Cat Messenger system, which provides real-time and stored machine performance and diagnostic data. An optional Vital Information Management System (VIMS) monitoring system offers more extensive machine function and payload data, while the payload-recording Truck Payload Management System (TPMS) attachment now has second-gear weighing capability and 2,400-cycle storage for data analysis.

Each of the trucks has a 500h engine service interval – twice that of the previous models – and serviceability has been improved by grouping the service points in an easy-to-access location.

In addition, a new next-generation modular radiator (NGMR) design provides wider fin spacing, making it easier and cheaper to service and repair, while its single-pass flow system cools more efficiently than the dual-pass system used previously.

For improved operator comfort and control, the new F-series trucks feature an all-new cab/operator station, which has 100% more glass area for improved visibility and 18% more interior space than the previous models. The seat is now in the centre of the cab and the new heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system produces greater airflow and a more even temperature throughout the cab. In addition, an integrated stairway access system allows the operator get on and off the truck more easily and in greater safety.
