New AC drive from Rockwell Automation
THE first drive to be released from the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 750 series – the PowerFlex 755 AC drive – will provide users with complete control of motor speed, torque and position to help increase system throughput and efficiency, say manufacturers Rockwell Automation.
Designed for ease of integration, application flexibility and performance, the PowerFlex 755 AC drive offers power versatility from 7.5 to 250kW (10 to 350hp) at 400/480V AC and 540/650V DC input.
Suitable for many industries, the PowerFlex 755 meets global standards and certifications, supports multiple languages and, with a variety of supporting options, is said to be a highly functional and cost-effective drive for simple or demanding drive applications.
According to Rockwell Automation, The PowerFlex 755 AC drive offers customers more versatility in motor control and supporting control hardware options than any other drive in its class. Key features include:
- DeviceLogix control embedded in the drive. This combines inputs and/or outputs and local logic functions to determine the drive’s behaviour, giving customers the flexibility to adapt the drive control to their specific application requirements.
- Embedded Ethernet. This allows customers to easily configure, control and collect drive data over Ethernet/IP networks.
- Preventative diagnostics. This allows users to configure the drive to provide advanced notification of operating data for drive cooling fans, I/O relay cycles, motor run-time hours and advanced warning of potential faults, to minimize downtime.
- Basic and enhanced safety options. These include ‘Safe Torque-Off’ and ‘Safe Speed Monitoring’, embedded into the drive, to help customers reduce overall system costs, while also helping to protect personnel and equipment and improve productivity.
The PowerFlex 755 is designed with a slot-based mechanical architecture, allowing customers to ‘build’ the drive with as few or as many options for I/O, feedback, safety, communications, and auxiliary control power as their application requires.
In addition, the new 20-HIM-A6 PowerFlex enhanced human interface module (HIM) offers added functionality and improved ease of use, to make drive programming simpler than before.
