Motivational case study launched by Freight Best Practice

FREIGHT Best Practice has produced a new free motivational case study showing real-life examples of how motivated staff can improve efficiency, reduce costs and reduce environmental impact.

‘Power To Your People’, shows how the Hardstaff Group, Walkers Snack Food Distribution Ltd and GeoPost UK plc use different methods to improve their staff’s motivation, the challenges they faced and the positive results that followed.

The case studies highlight how:

Hardstaff decided to employ three full-time qualified training instructors to help their drivers reach the highest efficiency levels possible. This coupled with a driver incentive scheme to meet efficiency targets has resulted in approximately a 5% saving in fuel.
Walkers established Best Practice Groups (BPGs) in order to engage and motivate staff. BPGs give employees a platform to air their opinions on varying operational aspects including the warehouse, transport yard and driving. As a result, ideas directly from BPGs have reduced product damage, journeys, mileage and, consequently, fuel use.
GeoPost have introduced a range of techniques including financial rewards, praising and acknowledging achievements and peer group competitions. Employees are also given some autonomy to find their own solutions to problems. All these measures have resulted in a 4% saving on fuel and 10% reduction in accidents and damage to vehicles.

Freight Best Practice provides information to help freight operators save money through improved fleet efficiency.
