Last call for SAFED funding

HALF-price Driver CPC-compliant Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED) training for the aggregates sector will only be available for training delivered before 31 March 2010, after which further funding will not be available.

The one-day SAFED driver training programme counts as 7h towards Driver CPC periodic training when delivered by a training provider that has registered SAFED with the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT).

Midlands-based fuel-efficiency experts Liquid Management Solutions Ltd, who have been involved with the delivery of the SAFED programme for several years, say companies should call as soon as possible on tel: 0845 450 7373 to secure their places.

Meanwhile, Liquid Management Solutions have recently announced the inception of BIG Right Foot Ltd, their associate driver training and development company, which has been established to meet the demands of the Driver CPC and other training and development solutions in road transport operations within the quarrying industry.

The training provided by the new company has three core principles: ensuring safety; improving fuel efficiency and protecting the environment.

BIG Right Foot director Kevin Taylor, who has more than five years’ hands-on experience of managing the delivery of the SAFED driver development programme, said the company had recently been commissioned by Day Group Ltd to deliver their 7h Driver CPC module (SAFED) to more than 100 of the independent aggregate company’s LGV drivers across the South East.

He added that, thanks to DfT sponsorship, training had now been provided to over 8,000 LGV drivers working within the aggregates sector.
