Lafarge help school children stay safe and be seen

EMPLOYEES at Lafarge Cement UK’s Aberthaw Works have recently celebrated achieving the safety milestone of reaching one year without a single lost-time injury (LTI).

In recognition of this achievement and to promote community safety, the Works has donated clip-on fluorescent reflectors for every child at Rhws Primary School so that they can be clearly seen by road users while walking to and from school.

Works manager James Kirkpatrick said: ‘The safety of our employees is our number one priority and we are delighted to have completed an entire year of operations without sustaining a lost-time injury.

‘To celebrate this milestone we wanted to share our commitment to safety with the community in which we operate and who offer us so much support. We hope our donation will increase the safety and visibility of children during the winter months.’

Rhws Primary School head teacher Louise Lynn said: ‘We are delighted to accept Lafarge’s kind offer of the clip-on reflectors and will be encouraging the children to use them on their way to and from school.’
