Lafarge celebrate £6.5million boost to good causes
New report published to coincide with 15th anniversary of company’s Landfill Communities Fund
LAFARGE are celebrating 15 years of grant-giving to boost community and environmental projects across the UK. Since 1996 and the introduction of the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF), the company has awarded £6.5million to good causes in areas close to its operations.
A new report, published to coincide with this anniversary, looks at some of the more recent projects and explains what the LCF is all about.
Andrew Bate, general manager landfill and recycling for Lafarge Aggregates & Concrete UK, said: ‘We are committed to supporting the communities around our operations and we recognize the importance of being a good neighbour. The LCF helps us do exactly that by providing funding for schemes all over the country.
‘It’s amazing to think how many millions of pounds we have awarded in the years since the LCF’s inception. In 2010 alone, the year of this report, we gave in excess of £1million.’
Lafarge launched their LCF scheme in 1996 shortly after the Government introduced the landfill tax in a bid to boost more environmentally sustainable methods of waste management.
