Iveco Trakker goes off-road with Windmill Demolition
Cheshire-based Windmill Demolition are reaping the benefits of their Iveco Trakker AD340T35. The Trakker runs on an Iveco 7.8-litre Cursor 8 engine, which is capable of producing 350hp between 1,930 rev/min and 2,400rev/min, and up to 1,280Nm of torque between 1,080 rev/min and 1,950rev/min.
Specified in an 8x4 configuration, and with a cab width of 2.28m, the truck provides excellent manoeuvrability in confined spaces, resulting in a reduced risk of collision with obstacles.
Other features include anti-slip access steps, which make getting in and out of the cab safer, and for added protection the halogen headlamps situated at the front of the vehicle are shielded by a removable grille.
Another company supplementing their fleet is Newport-based AT Counsell Haulage. The company has added a Seddon Atkinson R5 Strato, which is said to offer one of the highest payloads for any 18-tonne truck on the market.
The truck, which has been mounted with an aggregate tipping body, is being used to deliver sand and stone to customers within a 50-mile radius. The 275hp Trakker is powered by a 5.9-litre engine and uses a nine-speed Eaton synchromesh gearbox with a heavy-duty twin plate 356mm clutch.
‘We looked at the various chassis options on the market and the Strato’s lightweight design offered a clear 400kg payload advantage over its closest competitor,’ said Steven Counsell, managing director of AT Counsell Haulage.
‘A payload benefit on that scale is not something which can be easily dismissed, so we placed an order with the local dealer and have been very impressed with the truck’s performance.’
