Interbulk wins transport contract extension with Lafarge
Logistics group Interbulk have clinched a three-year contract extension to provide transport services for the UK cement operations of Lafarge. Under the deal, Interbulk subsidiaries — UTT and InBulk— will ship ferrous sulphate from Germany to Lafarge’s cement works at Northfleet in Kent.
The contract will involve the use of InBulk’s ISO-Veyor container, which provides the effective movement, storage and discharge of dry bulk materials by fluidizing powder/granular materials.
Lafarge have been so impressed with the product that they have purchased 12 units from InBulk for the transportation of cement powders to other locations. Bill Thomson, chairman of InterBulk, said: ‘Success with Lafarge is the first important step in the InBulk/UTT partnership and we are delighted with the contract extension. It has always been our intention to show Lafarge just what the ISO-Veyor is capable of.’
