Hyundai introduce new 9 Series excavators
Following preview displays of some prototypes and pre-production machines at various international events during the past 12 months, Hyundai will finally be launching the full range of their 9 Series excavators at Bauma in Munich, this April.
To begin the launch programme, Hyundai will place a number of field-follow machines into the European market, starting in January 2010, during the four-month lead up to Bauma. The objective is to introduce the new concept to dealers and customers, and to get hands-on experience with first-hand European operator feedback.
Jin-Wook Hwang, Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe’s managing director, said: ‘We want to be as ready as possible for that show, by being able to thoroughly inform people and have the answers to whatever questions they might still have. Moreover, this feedback programme will allow us to further fine-tune the rest of the 9 Series excavator range to the specific needs of European operators. In the end, it is the operator who we developed these machines for’.
The key ‘seed’ machines to be introduced to the European market include: the 1.6-tonne R16-9 and 2.7-tonne R27-9 minis; the 14-tonne wheeled R140W-9; a 21-tonne R210LC-9 crawler; and a completely new reduced tail-swing entrant, the compact R145LCR-9.
Feedback and testimonial reports obtained from owners, operators and mechanics will be used in training material, production line fine-tuning and marketing material. Hyundai’s social media presence on Facebook and Twitter will even allow for fans and followers to join the conversation and comment on the findings.
