Hitachi machine proving a success for Carrières GW
French quarry operator using ZX470LCH-5 excavator to help boost productivity
CARRIÈRES GW, part of Groupe Marc, are using a Hitachi ZX470LCH-5 excavator to extract cornèenne, a metamorphic rock used in the production of concrete at their quarry near St Malo, in Britanny.
Equipped with a 2.8 cubic metre-capacity bucket, the large Zaxis-5 machine loads materials in to the primary and secondary crushers on site before they are transported to a treatment area and tertiary crusher. Aggregates produced at the quarry are sold either washed or unwashed, with washed sand meeting the particular demands of concrete plants.
The ZX470LCH-5 excavator was supplied with an extended warranty and servicing contract by Cobemat, authorized Hitachi dealers for the region. Groupe Marc have enjoyed a strong relationship with Cobemat since 2009 – the company’s first purchase was a Hitachi ZX210LC-3 excavator.
Quarry manager Michel Krembser commented: ‘Our relationship with Cobemat is based on professionalism and trustworthiness. Hitachi products have a reputation for reliability and the ZX470LCH-5 is a highly productive machine that supports us in the challenge of meeting our daily targets.’
Echoing Mr Krembser’s sentiments, Lionel Deline, machine operator for Carrières GW, said: ‘This machine is excellent for excavating materials in the quarry. It’s reliable and works fast, and the breakout force is incredibly strong, while the loading time is excellent. The cab is also very comfortable and the controls are well within reach.’
Emmanuel Rabiller, who is responsible for equipment at the quarry firm, explained his reason for choosing Hitachi. ‘We did test other equipment, but Hitachi products offer an excellent price/quality ratio and represent a good return on investment. In addition, Cobemat’s reputation for after-sales services was an important factor in the purchase.’
