Harleyford fined

Harleyford Aggregates, operators of the Lea Pit sand and gravel site at New Denham in Middlesex, have been fined £5,000 for polluting a 5km stretch of the River Colne in October 2002. The prosecution was brought by the Environment Agency after the amount of silt in a discharge of water from the site was found to be 200 times over the recommended limit.
