Hand-held overload protection device from Vishay PM Onboard
Vishay PM Onboard have extended the advantages of their low-cost vehicle overload warning technology with the launch of the FreightWeigh system, to cater for HGVs with air-suspension.
The wireless weighing device uses transducers fitted to the vehicle’s suspension to measure loading at key points and transmit the data wirelessly to a hand-held device, allowing operators to collect accurate loading information quickly and cost-effectively.
The device displays gross vehicle weight (GVW) in kilograms, as well as percentage loading on the tractor and trailer, via an easily understood graphical format.
FreightWeigh is suitable for any combination of tractor and trailer types, including rigid, articulated, draw-bar and multiple-trailer vehicles. Up to four sensors can be fitted to a single vehicle, and installation is typically completed within 4h, as each fitment is initially calibrated using a standard weighbridge.
FreightWeigh is also suitable for fleet vehicles, thanks to its auto-trailer identification signal for multiple trailer usage. The hand-held device is easy to use, uses rechargeable batteries and operates up to 30m from the vehicle.
Having the right weight information using FreightWeigh allows drivers to improve their operational efficiency and meet legal requirements, such as loading limits and duty of care.
