Four UK debuts from Liebherr
LIEBHERR will be exhibiting in their usual location on stand Z9 overlooking the face demonstration area of the quarry, where visitors will be able to see several new items of equipment for the first time in the UK.
The new 70+ tonne class R 964C Litronic excavator will be making its UK debut, as will the world’s largest fully hydrostatic bulldozer, the 52.5-tonne PR 764. The new Compactmix 1.0 concrete batching plant will also be making its premiere appearance in the UK.
For many visitors to the show, however, the main Liebherr attraction is likely to be the new L 5862plus2 articulated wheel loader, which will be on display and demonstration for the first time ever in the UK.
The largest in a range of 16 models with an operating weight of 31.4 tonnes, the L 5862plus2 has a 20.5-tonne tipping load and can be equipped with a 5.50m3 bucket (nominal capacity). Lifting and breakout forces are 360kN and 253kN respectively. Dump height at maximum lift and 45º discharge is 3.31m.
Powered by a new-generation Liebherr D936L A6 engine, which develops 250kW at 2,000 rev/min and offers impressive fuel economy for a machine of this size, the L 5862plus2 is a hydrostatically driven, all-wheel-drive machine specifically developed for the quarrying and mining industries.
The hydrostatic driveline features automatic and stepless speed changes without interruption of the forward drive, automatic limited-slip differentials in both front and rear axles to provide maximum traction for optimum climbing ability, and a hydrostatic braking action for virtually zero brake maintenance. An automatic greasing system is fitted as standard and this contributes to the reduction of maintenance intervals by lubricating pins and bushes while the machine is working.
Other standard features of the machine include an ‘inch’ brake system, electronic crowding force control and ‘creep’ speed, while an isolated cooling system, with high-level air inlet/outlet, temperature-dependent fan speed and optional fan-reverse function, avoids dust ingress.
For the operator, the L 5862plus2 features a high-spec air-suspension seat, a soundproofed and vibration-damped ROPS/FOPS cab, and air-conditioning as standard. Power steering and simple joystick controls make the loading shovel very easy to operate, reducing driver fatigue and increasing productivity, while the wide-view safety glazing provides a high level of all-round visibility.
