Company visits Pye Green Academy in Cannock to raise awareness of hazards on the road

A SCHOOL in Staffordshire has been visited by staff from Forterra to help spread the message of road safety awareness, particularly important during the summer holidays.

Employees from the company’s Hams Hall facility, in Coleshill, visited Pye Green Academy in Cannock in a delivery truck, which they parked in the school’s playground to demonstrate potential dangers.

Forterra staff spoke to children about the importance of watching out for hazards on the road, and presented the school with orange hi-vis tabards and goody bags for all of the children.

Ruth Tonkinson, head teacher at Pye Green Academy, said: ‘We’re very grateful to Forterra for paying us a visit, teaching children to watch out on the roads, and making them easier to see with their new hi-vis vests.’

Inder Gill, area transport manager for Forterra, said: ‘It’s important for us to build positive relationships with the local community and by investing time with local schools we’re increasing safety for everyone.’
