Finedoor introduce the Ortner to the UK
FINEDOOR have added greater depth to their bespoke quarry and recycling screening and feeding solutions by completing an agreement to manufacture and distribute the Ortner fines removal/dewatering machine in the UK and Eire.
The Ortner is an innovative concept from the US for dewatering sand, removing fines, and rinsing and classifying aggregate materials up to 60mm in size, and is said to have performance capabilities and advantages that are unmatched by other machinery designed for this purpose. The machine is currently used by many of the major aggregate producers in the US.
According to Finedoor, the Ortner can also wash fine and coarse material up to 75mm and provides the flexibility to produce various products with one machine. Dry material can be fed to the Ortner to remove excess fines, while coarse material can be rinsed by adding a small quantity of water. When fed wet slurry from a density separator or hydrocyclone, the Ortner can be used to dewater the product; it can also classify or remove excess fines from the slurry.
Operation of the system is simple, with material fed on to a slowly revolving inclined pan, which is vibrated at high speed. The high-speed vibration quickly separates the various sizes of material with fines and water rising to the top and overflowing via a weir to the discharge, while the coarser particles sink to the bottom of the rotating pan and are carried up and out of the water, whereupon a stationary plough diverts the dewatered material to a central discharge chute. The driving and vibrating mechanism is mounted under the pan, preventing any contamination with the water and processed material, thereby increasing the life of the components.
Finedoor say it is possible to vary the angle, rotation speed and vibration frequency of the pan, giving the Ortner great flexibility in terms of output capacity and operational efficiency. The machine is available as a static or mobile unit to fit new or existing processing equipment.
