Fibre feeder from Mek-Tek
Mek-Tek now supply an optional automated fibre feeder for their MBP range, allowing customers to offer an optimum mix of fibre-reinforced concrete.
The feeder, which has a 19kg capacity and can operate with a variety of materials, is designed to provide a continuous stream of fibre for mixes of 0.6–0.9kg of material per cubic metre of concrete. Unlike drum mixers, where fibre is usually added in soluble bags to the cement at the plant, the fibre feeder is synchronized with the mobile batching plant to add a continuous stream of material on site at the same time as the water, cement and aggregate.
Both the speed of the feed and the cut lengths of fibre are adjustable to ensure optimum fibre distribution within the concrete mix and to avoid the clumping and baling that can be a problem with soluble bags.
The feeder can be fitted to Mek-Tek’s MBP4, MBP6 and MBP10 models, as well asretro-fitted to other makes of mobile or static batching plant.
