Fatality at Rugby cement works

Contractor killed during cement plant’s annual shutdown for routine maintenance

CEMEX UK have confirmed that a man died at the company’s Rugby cement works on Wednesday 18 January.

In a brief statement, a spokesperson for the company said: ‘CEMEX UK can confirm that there was an incident at Rugby cement works in the early hours of the morning on 18 January.

‘Regrettably, one person has died and our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends.

‘The cement plant is currently in its annual shutdown period for regular maintenance and there are a number of contractors on site. The deceased was employed by one of these contractors.’

CEMEX UK are co-operating fully with all of the investigations by the relevant authorities.
