DM-E open new load-test facility

Dowding and Mills Electronics (DM-E) have strengthened their position as one of the UK’s leading independent repairers of industrial electronics with a new state-of-the-art load-testing facility at the company’s workshop in Aston, Birmingham.

The load room comprises two test rigs of differing sizes, allowing the testing of AC inverters and DC drives ranging from 3kW to 110kW.

During the test, the engineer can monitor the progress using real-time graphs showing speed, load, current, voltage and drive temperature. Upon completion of the test, the results are exported to an Excel spreadsheet for production of detailed customer reports and performance graphs.

Bob Scott, general manager at DM-E, enthused about the benefits of the load-testing facility. ‘The system has been designed so that virtually all drives – whether old or new – can be fully functionally tested, ensuring complete customer confidence,’ he explained. ‘We have already generated interest from a number of drive manufacturers who are keen to use our facilities to test their products.’
