German repair worker dies following incident at CEMEX cement plant in North Lincolnshire
FOLLOWING an unspecified incident at CEMEX’s South Ferriby cement works earlier this week, Humberside Police confirmed that a man who sustained serious injuries in the incident had later died.
All operations at the plant were suspended after the incident, which is understood to have occurred around mid-morning on Tuesday.
Police said the unnamed man was a German contractor in his 30s who was carrying out repairs at the cement plant after it was flooded by a tidal surge on the river Humber in December 2013.
A spokesperson for CEMEX confirmed that a serious incident had occurred at the North Lincolnshire plant, resulting in the death of a contractor, and said the company’s thoughts were with the man’s family and friends.
Humberside Police are currently working with CEMEX and the Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances of the incident.
