Bithell’s Waste Disposal choose Hyva equipment

Hyva skiploader

Wigan-based recycling firm invests in four new Hyva skiploaders and a hookloader

FAMILY-owned Bithell’s Waste Disposal Ltd have established themselves as one of the North West region’s leading skip hire and waste-management businesses. Today, the company is improving its services still further with the recent addition of four new Hyva skiploaders and a hookloader.

Bithell’s already run a fleet of DAF trucks specified with Hyva bodies and, despite their particularly arduous working environment of loading and tipping skips and containers many times a day, the vehicles are expected to remain in service for at least 10 years before replacement.

The Hyva/DAF combination has proven to work particularly well for the business and the latest fleet additions – four 18-tonne DAF LFs with Hyva 2012XL ‘long reach’ skiploaders and a 400hp DAF CF fitted with Hyva’s fully bolter TITAN hookloader – will further strengthen Bithell’s portfolio of plant and equipment.

Louise Bithell, managing director of the waste-management firm, said: ‘In this business we need trucks that are practical, easy to operate and as inexpensive as possible to maintain. We also want first-class backup with parts available off the shelf. We have to keep the vehicles working reliably and efficiently so as to provide our customers with a genuinely professional and cost-effective service.’

For Bithell’s, all the fitting of the Hyva equipment to the DAF chassis is carried out by tipper bodybuilders Thompsons of Blackburn, who also provide full after-sales parts and service support.

Emma Bithell, transport manager, said: ‘In a high pressure-operating environment, our Hyva equipment has proven to be extremely reliable. Backed up by first class parts and service support from Thompsons, it looks like we’ve got the ideal vehicle formula.’
