Automatic lubrication reaches new heights
Timken ILS introduce attachment for automated lubrication of telehandler headstocks
TIMKEN ILS Ltd have developed what they claim is a new and unique method of feeding grease to lubrication points at the headstock on the front end of a telehandler.
The headstock is located at the end of the extendable boom and, in the past, all grease points in this part of the machine had to be manually lubricated due to the extension and retraction movement of the boom.
However, lubrication points that require manual lubrication at the end of a shift are often overlooked, and in the case of rented machines, the likelihood of these points ever being lubricated is extremely low.
As reported by many leading bearing manufacturers, most pin/bush and bearing failures are due to inadequate lubrication, which can result in machine downtime, costly repairs and loss of productivity.
With the new Timken SGR (self-retracting grease reel) attachment, all lubrication points, including the headstock, can be automatically lubricated from one grease pump while the machine is operating.
The SGR attachment, together with the proven HDI grease pump and SPL progressive divider valves, ensures all points are lubricated with precise amounts of grease at pre-determined intervals.
According to Timken ILS, this unique combination will help save money for telehandler owners and rental companies by improving the working life of, and bringing added value to, machines fitted with the system.
