Atlas Copco's little big portables

Atlas Copco have launched their new XAS 307-407 range of single-axle, lightweight, high-capacity portable compressors.

Designed for sandblasting and drilling duties in quarry environments, where mobility and manoeuvrability are just as essential as performance and reliability, the portable compressors are powered by Caterpillar C7 acert T3 six-cylinder diesel engines, producing outputs up to 400 1itres/s at pressures from 8.6 up to 14 bar.

The XAS 307-407 range has many new features, including a full-shift fuel tank capacity of 403 litres, an electronic multi-function controller, single-side service points and a low noise level of 76dB for reduced environmental impact.

Also new from Atlas Copco is a tough polyethylene canopy developed for their Series-7 portable air compressors to provide high impact, crack resistant protection for the machines and to help maintain a ‘smarter’ image for the units.

Dubbed the ‘HardHat’, the new canopy is produced in roto-moulded LMDP (linear medium-density polyethylene), the same UN-approved recyclable material used in chemical containers, boats, and often heavy-duty applications.
