Atlas Copco expand dewatering solutions

Company introduces new range of diesel-driven dry-prime portable dewatering pumps

ATLAS Copco Portable Energy have significantly expanded their dewatering pump solutions with the introduction of a new range of diesel-driven portable pumps. The 4in, 6in and 8in dry-prime units – PAS 4, PAS 6 and PAS 8 – are designed to deliver high performance and operating efficiency for the rental and dewatering markets.

Atlas Copco, who already offer electric, pneumatic and hydraulic submersible pumps, say the PAS diesel-driven pumps will extend their dewatering pump solutions for tough environments or where power is not available.

The PAS dry-prime pumps are best suited for transporting or lifting water with abrasive solids in suspension. Applications include dewatering at construction, mine and quarry sites.

‘We understand our customers operate in critical situations. In order to get their job done, they need fast and reliable dewatering first and foremost,’ explained Abet Cantuba, product marketing manager for pumps with Atlas Copco Portable Energy.

‘The PAS combines high performance with minimum operating expense. For rental companies and dewatering contractors, this is extremely important as it enables them to get a faster return on equipment acquisition costs, which is exactly what they require to stay competitive.’

The PAS 4, PAS 6 and PAS 8 have an operating flow range of 50 to 600 cubic meters per hour with a maximum head of up to 37 meters, and their solids-handling capacity extends up to 76mm. The pumps come with a skid fuel tank that allows the pumps to run for days without refueling, while their straightforward design and basic controller module ensure easy operation.

An environmentally friendly, oil-free vacuum pump priming system, which automatically removes air from the water, ensures uninterrupted, unsupervised operation, while high-quality components, including a reliable Kubota engine, deliver high performance at full-load operation.

In addition, large panels provide easy access to the engine and pump for faster servicing, and transportation and storage handling are simplified by the compact and robust canopy, forklift slots and lifting eye.

The PAS pump range will be manufactured at Atlas Copco’s Zaragoza factory in Spain, commencing in August 2014.
