Another first for RUD-Erlau
FOLLOWING the recent completion of a three-year expansion and modernization programme at their Aalen tyre protection chain (TPC) production facility in Germany, RUD-Erlau have delivered and installed two full sets of what they claim are the world’s larges
Called the R 75S Plus, the TPCs have gone into service in Europe and North America.
In Europe the R 75S Plus TPCs are protecting all four 52/80–57 tyres on a Cat 994 wheel loader working in a limestone operation. The other machine to be fitted with R 75S Plus TPCs is a LeTourneau 1850 loading shovel working in an iron ore mine in North A
RUD-Erlau previously claimed the ‘world’s largest’ title in 2004 when the front wheels of a Komatsu WA1200 loading shovel, working in Japan, were fitted with a pair of TPCs to provide full tread and sidewall protection against jagged rocks.
Weighing 4,800kg apiece, RUD-Erlau say the R 75S Plus has the same close-meshed structure as the recently introduced Fels X-19 TPC, which, with its 19mm links, is said to offer 30% more service life in highly abrasive applications.
As with all RUD-Erlau TPCs, on-site support for the R 75S Plus will be available 24h a day, seven days a week from RUD-Erlau-trained engineers.
